MARION, Ind. - The 2025 Goshen women's volleyball season wrapped up on Wednesday evening in Marion, as the #8 Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats won in three sets, 25-15, 25-14, 25-17.
Goshen led 12-11 in the first set.
Nevaeh Benjamin,
Addison Ross,
Amelie Martinez,
Armani Guidry-Austin,
Carmin Corey and
Brenna Spangler all had kills to that point. The Wildcats, however, went on a 5-0 run to go up four. Goshen pulled within two before IWU won the set by ten, winning the final eight points in the set. Goshen had no service errors in the set but the home team had seven more kills that the Leafs.
Goshen won the first point in the second set but that was the only lead they would have. The Wildcats dominated with the same .333 hitting percentage as the first set, but Goshen's dropped from .079 to -.125. The Leafs had four service errors in the second set.Â
Like the first set, the teams were tied 12-12 in the third, but Indiana Wesleyan played a stronger second half of the set. The Leafs were within three at 20-17, and even though IWU had more service and attack errors in the set, they also more than doubled GC in the kills category, 14-6. They went on to win the set 25-17.
Goshen only allowed IWU to have one ace in the match. The only other opponent they were able to do that against was Bethel on October 22.
Armani Guidry-Austin led the team in aces with six.
Alaina Wolfe led in digs with eight. In their final matches as Maple Leafs,
Sydney Stutsman finished with 15 assists and five digs,
Brenna Spangler had a .300 hitting percentage, an ace and two block assists, and
Kassidy Faler racked up four digs.
The Leafs finished ninth in the Crossroads League, one spot away from making the conference tournament. A notable highlight of the season was the team's season sweep against Saint Francis. It was the first time Goshen swept the season series with the Cougars since 2015 and was their first season series sweep of any conference opponent since 2019.
