WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - On their home court, the #25 University of the Cumberlands women's basketball team took down Goshen in the Patriot Classic on Friday. The Patriots won handily, 93-36.
The home team dominated from the start and held Goshen to ten points or less in three of the four quarters. The Leafs managed just 1-15 shooting in the fourth quarter and went 0-6 from three. Cumberlands improved to 5-0 this season with the win.
Cumberlands had 16 steals and won the rebounding margin by 22. They took care on the offensive end too, shooting 57.1% from the field despite only going 11-20 from the free-throw line. Goshen attempted 27 threes but made just two.
Zy'Ann Phinezy was Goshen's leading scorer with 14 points. She went 6-17 and had two steals.
Nasiya Gause, like Phinezy, came off the bench to score eight points on 4-9 shooting.
Kyla Foster finished with six rebounds, with four on the offensive end. She also had three assists but was 0-4 shooting.
Goshen is at St. Francis (Ill.) on Wednesday, November 12, at 8:00 pm eastern.
