Maple Leafs dominate in program's largest win over an Indiana school since 2002

Sarah Elfrey entered the game with ten points this season and scored 14 tonight

GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen women's basketball team led early and often in a blowout 86-48 win over IU-Columbus on Saturday afternoon. Ava Egolf led all scorers with 23 points.

The 38-point win is Goshen's largest margin of victory against a school from Indiana since December 6, 2002, when they beat IU-Northwest 85-26.

The Crimson Pride never had a lead in the game. After it was tied 6-6, the Maple Leafs led the rest of the way. Goshen scored at least 19 points in each quarter and they held IU-Columbus to scoring no more than 15 points in a quarter. Goshen shot 46% and scored 34 points off of 27 IU-Columbus turnovers. There were a combined 31 steals in what was a scrappy game. Goshen had 19 of them - their highest total in a game since beating Andrews on October 27, 2021. The Leafs had a +21 rebound margin and led in blocks 6-4 and assists 17-9.

Ava Egolf broke her record for points in a game from last weekend with 23 today. Her record coming into this season was seven, yet in her last five games she has either tied or broken her personal record for points in a game. She also had career-highs with eight field goals made, five free-throws made and seven rebounds.

Nasiya Gause tied a career-high with 17 points and set new season-highs with three three-pointers made and three steals. Sarah Elfrey had never scored more than two points in a game this season, but she went off for 14 today. She had ten points all season heading into the game. Elfrey had season highs in field goals, free throws, rebounds, steals and blocks. Kyla Foster had a season-high nine rebounds while Zy'Ann Phinezy had six rebounds and three blocks - both tying season bests. She scored 15 points as well. Lillian Null had a balanced statsheet with nine points, five rebounds and five assists.

Goshen is at home again on Thursday, December 18, against IU-Kokomo at 4:00 pm.
