FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Men's volleyball lost in three sets to an Indiana Tech squad that is receiving votes in the latest NAIA coaches poll on Tuesday night at the Schaefer Center. The Warriors won 25-18, 25-23, 25-16 to improve to 7-1 in the WHAC.
The Warriors started the match with three straight kills and winning the first five points. Then the Leafs answered with four points in a row of their own. Goshen tied it up a couple of times and was staying in it until a 7-1 Indiana Tech run that made the score 23-14. Goshen came back within six but the home team won the last point to win by seven.
Goshen was up 13-11 in the second set but was down three late in the set. They scored four of five points in a row to tie the set at 22-22. GC prevented one set point for the Warriors, but Indiana Tech won it 25-23. They carried the momentum to the third set, where they quickly built an 11-3 lead. Goshen didn't give up much ground after that, but the hole was already too deep and they lost by nine.
Goshen finished with a -.074 hitting percentage, their lowest in a match since February 7, 2023, also against Indiana Tech. Goshen led in the aces category 3-1 and in digs 39-32.
Ben Koop had 11 digs but a -.111 hitting percentage.
Avery Laforce had 21 assists and
Jonathan Arias had ten digs. Laforce and
Sawyer Frystak had eight digs apiece.
The Maple Leafs host Lourdes on Friday, March 28, at 7:00 pm.
