UPLAND, Ind. - After an upset 5-1 road win at #10 Taylor on Friday for the Goshen baseball team, the Trojans came back with dominant wins in games three and four of the series. Taylor won 17-2 and 8-0 on Saturday.
Game One
Taylor had three five-run innings and they needed only seven innings total to win by run rule. They had eight hits but walked 12 times and were hit by pitches five times.
Goshen scored their first run in the fifth when a throwing error allowed
Nick Padron to reach base and
Nathaniel Muriel to score. In the seventh,
Trent Sillett walked with the bases loaded to score
Alex Brito.
The Maple Leafs had just one hit in the game, a single from
Trent Sillett, but they had six walks and were hit by pitches twice.
Dakota Perry had the loss on the mound, pitching the first two innings and allowing five earned runs.
Game Two
In the second game, the Leafs managed four hits but couldn't get any runs on the board. They also had three errors, leading to two unearned runs.
Taylor scored half of their runs on wild pitches. The other four runs came from RBI-producing singles. The Trojans had seven hits but 12 walks. No Trojans were hit by pitches, but their were seven wild pitches thrown by GC pitchers.
Axell Espino Montero was 2-3 with a stolen base.
Justin Dambruck hit a double and
Nick Padron had a single. Goshen starter
Logan Wilson had the loss, allowing two earned runs in two innings.
Goshen hosts Grace on Monday, April 14, for a single seven-inning makeup game at 4:00 pm.
