HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Women's soccer took to the road to Huntington to face its namesake Foresters in their sixth conference matchup this season, where they fell 3-0.
Huntington put on the pressure early, as they took six shots in the first 20 minutes of play, before finding a goal in the 27th minute as they kept their press high on the Maple Leafs defense. The Leafs didn't hang their heads after this goal though, and continued to put pressure on the keeper until the end of the half.
Coming into the second half, possession was a little more evenly distributed between the two teams, shots going the same way as well. However, the Foresters found two goals in quick succession in the 72nd and 74th minute, as Sophie Shepherd and Payton Toth found the back of the net for their teams.
Though the Leafs couldn't quite finish their equalizers, they did put the HU keeper under pressure, forcing five saves from her, all of which came from different players.
Laura Castro picked up her most shots in a game since 2024 including one on goal, and the others on frame were Sophia Yoder, Natalie Boulier, Eliana Lang, and Grace McCall. Besides Castro, all of those shots on goal were their only shot of the match, so accuracy was a strength of the Leafs tonight.
The Maple Leafs are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 17 as they travel to the now #2 Grace Lancers, with kickoff set for 4 p.m.
