GOSHEN, Ind. - Men's volleyball lost a competitive three-set match to Olivet Nazarene on Friday night. The Tigers won 25-22, 25-23, 25-23 - their first ever win against the Maple Leafs.
The key for ONU was their ability to take advantage at the end of the sets. Tied 21-21 in the first, Olivet Nazarene scored four of the last five to win 25-22. Goshen had a six-point lead at 20-14 in the second set before the Tigers ended on an 11-3 run to win by two. Then in the third, Goshen was two points away from forcing a fourth set with a 23-21 lead, however the Tigers scored four straight to win by two for the second set in a row.
Sawyer Frystak had ten kills, with four coming in Goshen's first seven points of the match.
Nash Hubick averaged just shy of ten assists per set with 29 total for the evening. Six players had at least four digs for GC, with
Andrea Biffi leading the way with six.
Mathis Doladille had three block assists and
Ben Koop provided two aces.
Goshen hosts Cornerstone on Tuesday, February 17, at 7:00 pm. The Golden Eagles are receiving votes in the NAIA coaches poll.
