SYLVANIA, Ohio - #11 Lourdes improved their record to 11-2 overall and 8-1 in the WHAC as Goshen made the trip to Ohio to face them for the second time in the last 17 days. The Gray Wolves won in three sets, 25-15, 25-16, 25-11.
Goshen never led in the first set, and a 7-0 run in the middle propelled Lourdes to a 17-8 lead after already being up 10-8. After winning the first set by ten, they started the next set on a 10-4 run. Goshen was within five at 18-13 and had a better hitting percentage this time around with a couple of aces, but the Gray Wolves still prevailed 25-16. The third set was the most dominant yet for the home team. They won the first three points and never looked back, posting a .381 hitting percentage with four aces and three blocks in the set. It led to a one-sided 25-11 third-set win.
Ben Koop had ten kills and eight digs for the Maple Leafs.
Bruno Barac and
Andrea Biffi had seven kills each and
Nash Hubick added six with an ace and 20 assists.
Ryan Kabrich had two solo blocks and a block assist.
This will be Goshen's final match against Lourdes, as the university announced earlier this month that it will be closing at the end of the academic year.
Goshen hosts Rochester Christian on Friday, February 27, at 7:00 pm.
