Barrows fans 14 in win over CCSJ, Goshen edged by Judson in shootout

Goshen wins its fourth straight over Calumet before Judson’s early surge holds off a Maple Leaf comeback

TITUSVILLE, Fla. - Camryn Barrows had 14 strikeouts in yet another complete game spectacle as Goshen took down Calumet College of St. Joseph 6-1. To wrap up the Space Coast Spring Games week, the Maple Leafs lost to Judson 10-8 in their second game of the day.

Game One
In the second inning, Kaylee Kline's sacrifice fly scored Brinleigh Arredondo to put Goshen on the board. In the third, Audrey White hit an RBI double and Camryn Barrows followed that up with a two-run homer to give Goshen a 4-0 lead. 

While pitching, Barrows had only faced six batters through two innings, including striking out the side in the second. She faced four batters in the third and fourth innings before striking out the side for a second time in the fifth. Tatem Adams had a flyout in the bottom half of the inning and Barrows scored after an error by the right fielder.

The Crimson Wave got on the board in the sixth with an RBI single, but Ella Mcleod scored to answer back for the Leafs in the bottom of the sixth from an RBI groundout by Hayden McGuire. Barrows got through the seventh and the Leafs won 6-1 and have now won four straight against Calumet.

Barrows had one earned run on five hits in seven innings. She totaled 14 strikeouts and allowed just one walk. With the win, she has a 3-1 record this season. She leads the Crossroads League in ERA at 0.58 and strikeouts with 43. She is tied for the league lead in wins. She is the only NAIA pitcher with at least 11.50 strikeouts per nine innings and more than 12 innings pitched. At the plate, Barrows went 1-3 with the two-RBI home run. She also scored twice and had a stolen base. Rachel Kates had two singles and a run and Audrey White had a double, an RBI, a run and a walk.

Game Two
The Maple Leafs had seven more hits and six more runners left on base compared to Judson in game two.

The Eagles scored five runs on four hits in the first inning and added on to their lead with a three-run home run in the second. Goshen starter Shay Pipher was taken out of the game after allowing eight earned runs through an inning and a third. Despite the early 8-0 deficit, the Leafs slowly chipped away.

In the third, Audrey White had an RBI double and Tatem Adams hit a two-run homer. The same two players made a difference in the fourth as well. as White hit a two-RBI double and Adams added an RBI single. Judson had a two-run homer in the fourth to raise their 8-7 lead to 10-7. It made a difference, as Goshen got an RBI single from Brinleigh Arredondo in the fifth, but it was the last run the Leafs could muster. While Goshen pitcher Esme Pico prevented Judson from scoring in their last two frames, Goshen was unable to score in the sixth or seventh and lost by two.

Pico allowed two earned runs in 4.2 innings on five hits. Goshen had 17 hits and over half of them came from White and Adams. White was 4-4 with two doubles, two singles, a walk, two runs and four RBIs. Adams was 4-4 with three singles, a home run, a run and three RBIs. Hayden McGuire and Ella Mcleod were both 2-4. Diamond had a pair of runs and a stolen base to go with her single.
