Adams homers twice and Barrows throws complete game shutout as Leafs sweep Belles

Barrows leads the Crossroads League with a 0.45 ERA this season

GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen softball team improved to .500 on the season with back-to-back wins over Saint Mary's on Friday evening. The Leafs won 2-0 in game one and 7-2 in the second contest.

Game One
Camryn Barrows was at it again with yet another complete game shutout. She allowed just three hits through seven innings with ten strikeouts and three walks. For the season, she has allowed two earned runs in 31.0 innings pitched and has a 0.45 ERA.

The Maple Leafs didn't need to do much from the offensive end, but Tatem Adams nearly took care of it herself single-handedly. Adams had an RBI single in the first inning to score Audrey White - what ended up being the game-winning run. She added an insurance run in the fourth on a solo home run to make it 2-0.

Brinleigh Arredondo also had two hits for the Leafs - a double and a single. Additionally, Audrey White hit a double and Camryn Barrows provided a single. Barrows and Rachel Kates each had stolen bases.

Game Two
The score of game one was matched just an inning into game two.

In the bottom of the first, Audrey White hit a two-run home run with Bianca Diamond already on base. Diamond then hit a single that scored pinch runner Danica Bergeron and Ella Mcleod. Diamond was caught in a rundown and was out at second base, but Sydney Lockhart came home and scored to make it 5-0.

Esme Pico allowed just one hit and no earned runs in three innings as the starter. She threw three strikeouts and walked one. Shay Pipher came in in the fourth and threw the remaining four innings. She allowed two earned runs on four hits.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Tatem Adams hit a two-run shot to left center, her second home run of the day, and the Leafs went up 7-1. The Belles scored once more in the top of the fifth, but Shay Pipher earned the win with her four successful innings after Pico got the job started.

Goshen had 13 hits compared to five for Saint Mary's. Audrey White went 3-4 with two runs, two RBIs, a home run and a stolen base. Tatem Adams was 3-3 with one run, two RBIs and a home run. Celeste Gutierrez was 2-3 with two singles and Ella Mcleod was 2-3 with a single and a double. Bianca Diamond had three RBIs.

Goshen hosts Saint Francis in a doubleheader on Tuesday, March 10, at 3:00 pm.
