GOSHEN, Ind. - Men's volleyball lost in three sets to Lourdes on Saturday afternoon in Ruth Gunden Gymnasium. The Gray Wolves, who are receiving votes in the NAIA coaches poll, won 25-19, 25-20, 25-17.
Lourdes only had a one-point lead at 19-18 in the first set when they finished it on a 6-1 run. They led 20-12 at one point in the second set. Goshen cut it to three before the visitors scored the last two points needed to win the set. The Gray Wolves used a long 8-0 run in the third set to go up 15-5. The Leafs scored four points in a row when Lourdes got to match point, but they eventually finished it off and won 25-17.
Lourdes had a hitting percentage of .400 for the match. Goshen had a strong .304 hitting percentage in the second set but Lourdes was at .536 for that same stretch.
Ishmail Bangura had eight kills for Goshen and
Mathis Doladille had six with an .857 hitting percentage.
Nash Hubick had 25 assists,
Alessandro Olgiati had two aces and
Nash Morgan provided six digs. Bangura, Hubick and Doladille each had a solo block. Hubick and Doladille also led the team with two block assists each. Hubick had three blocks across his first eight collegiate matches, but the freshman has totaled five in the last two matches alone.
Goshen is at Trinity Christian on Tuesday, February 10, at 8:00 pm eastern time.
