CORBIN, Ky. - Troy Griffin went 2-3 with a pair of singles, but Union Commonwealth won 10-0 to sweep three games against Goshen.
Against Goshen starter
Dylan Pearson, the Bulldogs scored three runs on three hits in the bottom of the second inning, coming in the form of a home run, an RBI double and a sacrifice fly. They added a two-RBI single in the fourth, an RBI single in the fifth, and a three-run home run and a run on a fielder's choice in the sixth. The Union Commonwealth lead off hitter got on base in five of their six innings. When Goshen was unable to score in the top of the seventh, the Bulldogs won 10-0 by run rule.
Troy Griffin had two singles for Goshen, and
AJ Carrasquillo and
Steven Lopez each had one as well. This was Griffin's second multi-hit game as a Maple Leaf. As the five, six and seven spots in the lineup, those three hitters combined to go 4-7 with two walks.
Dylan Pearson went three innings as the starter, allowing three earned runs on three hits. He had six strikeouts and one walk.
Goshen is at Campbellsville on Saturday, February 14, at noon for two seven-inning games. They will play two more on Sunday beginning at 1:00 pm.
