MISHAWAKA, Ind. - With a pair of wins on Saturday, Goshen softball swept the season series with the Bethel Pilots, outscoring them 36-14. The Leafs won 9-3 and 9-1 this time around to move to 10-14 in league play.
Game One
With the Pilots up 1-0, Goshen's
Audrey White hit an RBI double in the top of the third, and
Bianca Diamond's RBI groundout later in the inning gave Goshen a 2-1 lead. The Pilots retook it in the bottom half of the inning and Goshen walked in a run in the fifth to tie it and scored on a wild pitch to take the lead again.
Goshen added four insurance runs in the sixth - including RBI singles from White, Diamond and
Shay Pipher. The Leafs ended with a 9-3 win.
Tatem Adams earned the win, allowing two earned runs in two innings.
Shay Pipher went five innings in relief and allowed no earned runs on three hits. This was the longest outing of her career with no earned runs allowed.
Audrey White went 3-5 with a double, two RBIs, a run and a stolen base.
Bianca Diamond had a double and a single, two runs, two RBIs, a walk and a stolen base.
Game Two
In the second game,
Esme Pico went the distance, allowing just one earned run in five innings. She had three strikeouts, two walks and six hits allowed. Offensively, her flyout to right field in the first scored
Audrey White and she had ab RBI single an inning later. She scored later in the inning as well.
All nine of Goshen's runs came in the first two innings.
Ella Mcleod and
Sydney Lockhart had RBI singles in a four-run first inning for the Leafs. Goshen capitalized on three Bethel errors while producing none themselves.
Audrey White added three more hits in game two - a double and two singles. She scored twice, as did
Bianca Diamond and
Ella Mcleod. Pico had two hits and
Sydney Lockhart had three RBIs.
