MOUNT VERNON, Ohio - Barron Welsh extended his hitting streak to five games in a 17-7 loss at Mount Vernon Nazarene on Monday afternoon. The Cougars went on to win the second game 11-2 as well.
Game One
The Cougars scored 12 of their 17 runs in two innings alone. They started by putting up six runs on five hits in the first inning. Goshen made up half of the deficit with three runs on three hits in the third.
Chris Godden had a two-RBI single to center and
AJ Carrasquillo had a nearly identical hit right after him, scoring one more run.
In the bottom of the fourth, MVNU added six more runs on six hits and an error. Ryan Willoughby hit a two-run home run in the fifth and three more runs in the sixth made it 17-3. GC had a late rally in the top of the seventh.

AJ Carrasquillo walked to load the bases.
Joel Berkholz walked in a run and
Trenton Smith walked in another.
Barron Welsh doubled to left to score two more, but then a strikeout and a flyout ended the game by run rule.
Brandon Wright Barron had the loss.
AJ Carrasquillo hit two singles and
Nathan Pinedo walked three times. Welsh had a double with two RBIs and Godden had two RBIs as well.
Game Two
The Leafs started with a lead in the second game. With two outs in the first,
AJ Carrasquillo hit a two-RBI single to right on a 1-1 count that scored
Chris Godden and
Chase Smith. The Cougars scored once in the bottom half of the inning and eventually tied the game 2-2 after the third.
MVNU opened up the game with three runs in the fourth. One came from an RBI single, another on an error and the third from a wild pitch. They scored on a sac fly in the fifth and had back-to-back home runs that played a big part in the five runs they scored in the sixth. 11-2 was the final score.
Logan Wilson went 3.1 innings with four earned runs, four strikeouts, four walks and four hits.
Steven Lopez had two of Goshen's five hits.
AJ Carrasquillo,

Chase Smith had the other three. Carrasquillo had two RBIs.
Goshen hosts Saint Francis on Friday and Saturday at 1:00 pm both days. Senior Day will take place on Saturday between games.
