GOSHEN, Ind. - Women's soccer pulled off a stunning comeback victory over Cleary, finishing the match with a 3-2 success story. This was their first comeback win where they were down in the second half and managed to find a way to pull out the win anyway in 10 years. 

Sophia Yoder set the tone for the match early, picking up a goal in just the 7th minute with a great take through the Cougars defense. However, Cleary answered less than a minute later when Chelsea Waller finished off a loose ball in the box that bounced back and forth for a few seconds before she got a foot on it. 

Cleary then followed that up with a goal off a free kick in the 17th minute, taking back the lead from the Leafs and putting them on the back foot going into the halftime break down the line. 

However, Jemima Potter found the back of the net for the second game in a row in the 60th minute to put the Leafs right back in it, and then Johannah McDonald, also for the second game in a row, put the game to bed with her goal in the 83rd minute. 

Fittingly, the last freshman to score in two consecutive games was Sophia Yoder, who joined the pair in their scoring today as they joined the exclusive club and found the victory. 

Despite the goals allowed, Hailey Ballast still picked up five saves for the Leafs, and her back line of defense was rock solid for most of the game, shutting down opportunity after opportunity for the Cougars. 

Yoder and Eliana Lang both put up four shots and two shots on goal as they kept the Cleary keeper under pressure all game — since the Leafs outshout the Cougars 2-1. 

The Maple Leafs are back in action on Saturday, Sep. 12 at 7 p.m. to take on Indiana University Northwest as they look for their third home win in a row.
