AT GOSHEN:
2019: Played every game as a senior, starting all but one of them ... playing primarily on defense, recorded two shots ... both of those came 9/4 vs. Bluffton and were on goal.
2018: Played and started every game for the second consecutive season ... played primarily on defense and did not record a shot.
2017: Appeared in all 17 games, one of four players (all field players) to do so and two to start every match ... played primarily on defense, but scored first career goal in 39th minute against Calumet on Sept. 6 ... that game set off a three-match shot streak and two-match shot-on-goal run.
2016: Appeared in 14 games ... started first two games of season before making final 12 appearances off bench ... took first career shot 8/25 in win over Bluffton ... finished season with one shot.

HIGH SCHOOL:
played for coach Chrissy Casella at Warwick High School ... member of the National Honor Society as well as National Art and Spanish Honor Societies.

PERSONAL:
Born on February 27 ... parents are Phil and Karmen Zimmerman ... has a sister, Janessa (18) ... chose Goshen because "it has an awesome study abroad program and a close-knit community. There's also the academics, soccer, and financial aspects, but the deciding factor was that I felt less stressed about going to Goshen. It felt most like home." ... admires Martin Luther King Jr.'s strong and steadfast beliefs of equality and creating change through peace and nonviolence. ... little-known personal fact is "the name Makena means 'happy girl' in an African tribal language close to Swahili" ... best athletic moment was scoring twice in two weeks.
