Attended Oak Meadow Distance Learning School … also played volleyball.
PERSONAL:
Born on October 15 ... parents are Jane and Jerrell Ross Richer ... sister to Sierra (21), Teresa (17) and Jordan (15) ... chose Goshen “first, because my family is connected to the college. My older sister attends GC and dad teaches in the business department there. Also, being Mennonite and growing up partly abroad I was attracted to its Mennonite values and international community. A friendly and welcoming soccer coach and program also impressed me and convinced me Goshen was where I needed to be.”... admires Angie Fernandez because “She lives on the West Mesa in New Mexico in a tiny house made of hyper-adobe she built with a little help from friends. She loves the earth, lives barefoot, cooks her food in the sun, only makes one bag of trash per year and is so happy. She's an amazing example for me of someone who truly cares for our Earth and has the guts to be different in this world. I also admire my parents. The things they've accomplished are unbelievable, homeschooling four kids, making it possible for us to create a home in two places, having the dream to be missionaries and then fulfilling it, following Jesus' footprints and so much more. I love them and admire them because of the lifestyle they've given me.” ... little-known personal fact is “I absolutely love traveling. I grew up living for half of every year in Ecuador and the other half in Goshen” ... best athletic moment “happened on a small cement soccer court in the rain forest of Ecuador. I was playing as a forward on the Zabalo women's soccer team in a tournament with teams from up and down the Aguarico river. Just like everyone else on the court, I had no shoes, shin guards or jersey. The setting was simple but the crowd was incredibly competitive. This game had two fifteen minute halves and the first one ended 0 to 0. There was something inside of me that was not going to let my team lose. The opposing team had several tough players, an intense defense and scary reputation. And this game ended the tourney, we had a chance at first place. Time was running out and we were screwing things up. But then our defense passed me the ball, I was up by the goal, got the ball around the barefooted defense and nutmegged the goalie. The ball was in the goal. We did it. We won. For me that moment was amazing. My teammates shown at different times during that tourney, but over all we won as a team. So proud of each one of those girls, including two of my sisters, we all did our part that day. I had so many more fun times on that court, but this one stands out in my memory.”
