Box Score GOSHEN, Ind. — The Goshen College men's soccer team saw its quest for conference superiority hit a snag Wednesday night when the Maple Leafs were upended 1-0 by Grace College at the Goshen College Soccer Complex.
Damon Binkley scored the game's only goal with 25:54 to play on an assist from Kyle Hamlin. In a defensive struggle, Goshen put only one shot on goal: each netminder, Goshen's Dean Nafziger and Grace's Robbie Barnhill, made a single save.
Goshen falls to 4-10 on the season, with a 3-3 mark good for sixth in the Crossroads League but two points out of the top four positions and a first-round home match in the tournament. Grace remains tied for the league lead at 4-1, holds the tiebreaker over the other 4-1 side (Indiana Wesleyan) and sits at 10-4 for the season.
The Maple Leafs' next home match, set for Oct. 17, doubles as Senior Night: as Goshen takes the field at the Goshen College Soccer Complex for the final time in this regular season, it will face St. Francis at 7 p.m.
More, including comments from Goshen coach Arron Patrick, to come when available.
