MARION, Ind. — The Goshen College men's soccer team wrapped up its Crossroads League season on Wednesday in a 4-1 loss on the road at Indiana Wesleyan University.

A pair of local products combined to score the Maple Leaf goal, as West Noble High School alumnus Uriel Macias crossed a pass to Goshen native Lucas Bontreger to trim Indiana Wesleyan's lead to 2-1 with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.

The Wildcats (7-7-3) opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Glauber Oliveira found Cade Binkerd on a breakaway, then doubled the lead on an Isaiah Kline pass to Philipp Basara off a deflection with 2:22 remaining.

Oliveira and CJ Strawser combined for both scores in the second half, with Oliveira scoring in the 47th minute and Strawser in the 50th.

Stuart Aeschliman led all players with 8 shots and 3 shots on goal for the Maple Leafs (6-11). Binkerd matched him in the latter category. IWU finished with a 17-15 edge in total shots and a 10-7 margin in shots on goal; Goshen took 5 of the match's 8 corners.

The Maple Leafs had another chance to equalize late in the first half as Macias' shot was saved by Aaron Carr in the closing seconds. Goshen took four shots in the 15 minutes after IWU's second pair of goals, and Carr compounded the misery by saving a penalty kick in the 68th minute.

Indiana Wesleyan had one shot on goal over the last 40 minutes. Tomas Fonseca made 6 saves for GC.

The loss sent Goshen into the offseason as the ninth-place finisher in the CL's regular-season standings. The conference is slated to announce its postseason awards in the third week of November
