Box Score

ELGIN, Ill. — The Goshen College men's volleyball team hit a season-high .240 Thursday night in a four-set victory over Judson University at JU's Lindner Fitness Center.

The Maple Leafs cruised to a 25-13 first-set win behind 9 kills without an attack error before taking care of business 25-23, 17-25, 27-25 in the final three sets.

Alexander Rabadzhiev hit better than .300 with 17 kills on 42 attempts, reaching the 200-kill plateau with his third-best single-match mark of the year. Michael Wahl added a double-double with 13 kills and a match-high 15 digs while Andy Bennett contributed 6 blocks and Lucas Sauder 5. Nick Yutzy added 11 digs from the libero spot in his first match since Feb. 10.

Judson (6-11) got 12 kills from Kulu Morando and a .312 percentage from Kaimi Ahn-DiFolco, but accumulated 22 hitting errors to Goshen's 12 and was outblocked 11-2. Noah McConnville posted 15 digs and Tony Tauiliili led all players with 34 assists.

Wahl led the match with 4 aces — Goshen's 7 aces in the match were a program record, as were the team's 11 blocks.

The Leafs (3-12) wasted little time getting in front, using two 4-point runs in the first set to take leads of 7-2 and 13-6. The teams traded sideouts for 10 straight points before a Wahl winner gave Goshen its Xth 1-0 lead of the season. A 14-6 spurt keyed by two Christian Rodriguez winners turned a 4-point Eagle lead into a 4-point Leaf advantage late in the second set.

Judson used four Morando winners for its own 12-2 run in the third set, negating an early Maple Leaf lead, before Goshen saved five set points on Wahl's serve in the fourth set and finished the match with three Rabadzhiev kills in the last five points.

Goshen returns to Gunden Gymnasium on Friday night to host North Park University in the first meeting between the two schools. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
