Box Score 2 ADRIAN, Mich. — Alexander Rabadzhiev racked up 48 kills and Christian Rodriguez contributed a pair of 12-kill efforts, but the Goshen College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Adrian College on Wednesday night, losing in four sets and then in five.
Nick Yutzy led all players with 42 digs on the evening, which also saw Michael Wahl register 93 assists. Rabadzhiev added a pair of double-doubles with 10 and 11 digs in the two matches; Wahl contributed one while Rodriguez posted one and missed a second by a single dig.
The Bulldogs (11-5) took the opener 25-22, 22-25, 25-17, 25-17 and hit .248 for the match. Noah Marcinkowski led the team with 19 kills, outdoing the 12 posted by Tedrick Gula, and Mike Gold led all players with 6 blocks.
Rabadzhiev's 4 stuffs led the Maple Leafs while Joseph Campana's 47 assists for Adrian were a match high. The Bulldogs' Joseph Campana led all players with 18 digs, four more than Yutzy.
Goshen (5-15) took a two-sets-to-one lead in the nightcap before Adrian rebounded to claim the final two stanzas, racing to an 8-1 lead at the change of ends in the deciding set. The Bulldogs' winning margin was 25-23, 19-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-7.
Rabadzhiev led all players with 27 kills in the later contest, but Adrian made up for the effort with four players in double figures led by Marcinkowski's 21. Michael Burkhardt hit .565 with 14 kills and 11 digs for AC while Campana added a double-double behind a match-high 53 assists and 12 digs.
Goshen recorded 13 blocks, a new program record, to Adrian's 8; Andy Bennett led all players with 7 stuffs while Lucas Sauder had 5. Yutzy recorded a season-best 28 digs while Rodriguez contributed 13 and Rabadzhiev 11. Wahl was one assist off the match high with 52.
The Maple Leafs are idle for a week before returning to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference on Wednesday, March 6, with a visit to Aquinas. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
