Box Score LINCOLN, Ill. — Andy Bennett led the Goshen College men's volleyball team with a .563 hitting percentage thanks to 10 kills Wednesday night in a three-set victory over Lincoln College in Illinois. The win gave Goshen its third three-match winning streak of the season.
The Maple Leafs (13-6) also got 12 kills from Alexander Rabadzhiev and 8 from Ian Fox in the 25-10, 25-20, 25-14 win. Fox led all players with 5 blocks and Rabadzhiev had 3 while Bennett led the way with 4 aces. Michael Wahl added 32 assists and 8 digs.
Christian Rodriguez came off the bench to lead GC with 9 digs, two more than Brayton Yoder had.
Across the net, Lincoln finished with 19 kills and 17 attack errors, paced by Jonathan Lindner with 5 kills. Jamere Jackson and Jamal Singleton each added 4 and Singleton had a hand in 4 of the team's 6 blocks. Miguel Garcia racked up 17 assists and Trenton Kielion led the team with 7 digs.
GC finished with 42 kills to Lincoln's 19 as well as out-acing the Lynx 7 to 1 and recording an 8-6 block advantage.
The Maple Leafs dropped the first point in each of the first two sets and also trailed at 5-4 and 6-4 in the second, but otherwise largely created one-way traffic, leading 11-4 and 21-9 in the opener. A four-point run led to an 8-6 lead in the second set, which was capped with three straight points after a 22-20 lead. GC took nine of the first 12 points in the third set and did not lead by fewer than five the rest of the way.
Goshen returns to Illinois on Thursday in pursuit of a fourth straight win, which would tie the two-year-old program's record for longest winning streak. Robert Morris University is the opponent for the match, which begins at 7 p.m. in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
