Bontreger and Razor score as Lancers upend Maple Leafs

Graber makes his first start in goal

GOSHEN, Ind. – Goshen rallied from being a goal down twice on Wednesday night against Grace but could not find an answer to the Lancers' third goal. Tyler Brueckman's goal in the 82nd minute for Grace gave them a 3-2 victory.

The scoring got underway in the 11th minute once David Koch scored for Grace on a header from a free-kick. The Maple Leafs (5-6-3) tied it back up for the first time in the evening in the 27th minute. Lucas Bontreger scored his sixth goal of the season – which took the team lead. Uriel Macias earned the assist. This goal for Bontreger was the 27th of his career, which ties Stuart Aeschliman for the most goals since 2008. Aeschliman's 67 career points in the most since that time, but Bontreger is approaching quickly with 65.

Not even five minutes later, Grace (6-8) had their second goal – scored by Felipe Gruber. The score stayed at 2-1 going into halftime and for a slim majority of the second half. That changed in the 71st minute when Lars Razor scored for the Leafs. This was Razor's sixth goal this season, which then made it a tie once again between him and Bontreger for season goals.

The Lancers scored one more time, off the foot of Tyler Brueckman in the 82nd minute. Goshen was unable to rally from this deficit, and the final score was 3-2. Grace had 14 shots and Goshen had 13. Ten of Grace's shots were on goal, and Goshen had eight. Goshen native Andrew Graber made his first start as the goalkeeper. A freshman, Graber faced ten shots and made seven saves. Henrique Eichenberger took seven of the 12 Maple Leafs shots and had four shots on goal. Both of these marks are career highs for the senior.

Goshen has four remaining matches before the postseason, with three of the four being at home. The next match is this Saturday against Taylor at home at 7:00 p.m.
