WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Goshen went on the road Wednesday to face a top 15 team but left with a 3-1 loss to Grace.
The Lancers got on the board early when Madison Tuma scored in the 8
th minute – assisted by Sam Vondersaar. They tacked another on once Lea Moessinger scored off an assist from Alexis Larimore in the 38
th minute. They held a 2-0 lead heading into the half.
It was Larimore's turn to score in the second half, which she did with 22:22 to go. Tori Calizo earned the assist. Then Goshen scored in the 83
rd minute off an own goal. The final score was 3-1 in favor of the Lancers.
The Lancers have looked impressive as of late after recently beating Huntington 6-0. In that game, they outshot the Foresters 25-2 and beat them in the shots on goal category 14-1. Their numbers against the Maple Leafs were stunning as well, though not as extreme. Grace had 12 shots and Goshen had just four. Six of Grace's shots were on goal and the Leafs had one.
In goal, MaKiah McCain played for the first half and had two saves and allowed two goals.
Victoria Naylor played the second half and had one save and one goal allowed.
Beatriz Meneghin took three of Goshen's four shots and had the lone shot on goal.
The Maple Leafs are on the road again this Saturday at Taylor at 7:00 p.m. The following Saturday, October 23
rd, will be the next home game. That match will be against Marian at 7:00 p.m. It will be the last home match before the postseason and will be Senior Night. Come cheer on the seniors and the rest of the Maple Leafs crew then!
