Leafs fall in three sets at Winona Lake

The team wraps up the season Saturday at Huntington

WINONA LAKE, IND – Goshen fell three sets to none in their penultimate match of the season on Wednesday night in Winona Lake.
 
Grace (12-17, 5-12 CL) built up early leads in each of the three sets on their way to the win. They started the first set with a 13-3 run, an 8-2 run in the second, and a 10-5 start in the third.
 
Both teams combined for 12 errors. Goshen (4-31, 0-17 CL) only had two in the first set, while Grace had four.
 
Emily Lynch led Goshen with five kills, no errors, and a hitting percentage of .714. Jaelyn Amhdar had 14 assists. Gwyn Bellamy had an ace and Emma Dippon had two blocks. Sadie Brenneman had nine digs.
 
Grace entered the match having played steep competition recently. Four of their last five matches were against a team either ranked or receiving votes. Since October 9th they had played (RV) St. Xavier, #22 Indiana Wesleyan, #7 Marian, and (RV) Bethel.
 
Goshen caps off this season on Saturday, October 30th at 3:00 at Huntington. Huntington is 13-20 this season and 4-13 in the Crossroads League.
