GOSHEN, Ind. – Four players reached double-digits for the Goshen men's basketball team on Wednesday night. On the other side, Jason Hubbard scored 31 for the Taylor Trojans, and they went on to beat the Leafs 72-64.
Both teams got off to a rough start offensively, and it was only 2-1 in Goshen's favor six minutes into the match. Once both teams started to gain steam, the Maple Leafs were in control for most of the first half. At the break, it was Goshen – 30 and Taylor – 28.
The Trojans began the second half with an 11-3 run, and GC never retook the lead. Held to 28 points in the first half, Taylor came back with 44 in the second on their way to a 72-64 victory.
Elias Ramirez led the Leafs with 16 points – 12 from behind the arc.
Ryan Mansbarger had a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards.
Robert Sanders scored ten and was a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line, and
Gabriel McQuay added ten more points off the bench.
Taylor's Jason Hubbard came into the game averaging 21.2 points per contest and put up 31 tonight. Hubbard made 11 of his 21 attempts and was 8-9 at the charity stripe. He also had seven rebounds, three blocks, and two steals.
Goshen had 15 assists whereas, Taylor had 11. But the Trojans shot 48.1% compared to 40.0% for the Maple Leafs.
Goshen is on the road Saturday, January 29, as they take on Spring Arbor at 3:00 pm. The next home matchup will be against Indiana Wesleyan on Tuesday, February 1, at 7:00 pm.
