GOSHEN, Ind. – Seja Lan scored her fourth goal of the season to bridge the gap against Grace on Wednesday night, but the Lancers held their lead and escaped with a 2-1 victory.
Dane Moriarty started the scoring for Grace in the first half with a header off the left post and in off a cross from Kailey Burrell. Moriarty added an assist when her cross from the left side found Madison Tuma. Tuma's header went in, and the lead increased to 2-0 in the second half.
With under 20 minutes to go in the game,
Seja Lang scored a beautiful goal outside the box to cut the lead in half. Lang is now tied with
Anita Tavares for the team lead in goals – they each have four this season. Goshen kept fighting and had a valiant effort within the final minute, but Grace held on.
Goshen had no corner kicks in the entire match. Grace led in total shots 19-5 and shots on goal 13-3.
Gracie Garcia made 11 saves in goal and had a .846 save percentage. Lang had two shots on goal, and
Anne Nisley had one.
Grace is now 8-3-1 overall and 3-2-0 in the Crossroads League. Goshen (4-8-1, 1-4-0 CL) hosts (RV) Taylor on Saturday, October 15, at 7:00 pm.
