Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Justin DeWeese

Garcia's ten second half saves can't derail Trojans

Taylor is now 11-2-1 overall and 6-1 on the road this season

GOSHEN, Ind. – Gracie Garcia made a season-high 12 saves in goal for Goshen, but one early goal from the Trojans made all the difference on Saturday night at the GC Soccer Complex. Taylor won the game 1-0.

Sydney Thompson scored on a shot from the right side in the 14th minute. She would finish the game with four shots, all of them on frame. The visitors had 11 shots in the first half, but many went wide. Goshen didn't register any shots in the first half.

Taylor put more shots on target in the second half, but Garcia stopped any of their goal-scoring plans. She made ten saves in the second half alone and wouldn't allow any to get past her in the last 45 minutes. Goshen also got into an offensive rhythm and took three shots, with one on goal. But the half was scoreless, and Taylor kept the 1-0 margin.

Lauren Collins had eight of Taylor's 24 shots and had four shots on goal. Lexy Adamczyk took Goshen's lone shot on goal. Seja Lang and Amy Drew recorded the other GC shots. Garcia's 12 saves is a season-high for the first-year. In addition to Goshen's game at Grace on Wednesday, she has made 23 saves this week. Taylor is receiving votes in the coaches poll and is 11-2-1 this season and 6-1 on the road.

Goshen (4-9-1, 1-5 CL) is at Marian on Saturday, October 22, at 7:00 pm. They conclude the regular season with home games against Spring Arbor and Huntington.
