INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Goshen women's soccer team held the #2 team in the NAIA scoreless in the last 44 minutes of action on Saturday afternoon at St. Vincent Field. Yet Marian put up six goals in the first 46 minutes led by a hat trick from Allie Schlom to win 6-0.
The Knights got on the board less than five minutes into the game as Erin Oleksak found Naomi Walters. Schlom scored her first goal in the ninth minute and added on another in the 14
th minute. Then it was Oleksak who scored two of her own in the 36
th and 45
th minute. Schlom scored her hat trick goal just a minute and six seconds into the second half.
The Maple Leafs played much better in the second half. Goshen had their lone shot on goal in the second half and held Marian to three fewer shots.
Gracie Garcia made nine saves with five coming in the second half and GC committed no fouls after having five in the first half.
Amy Drew had a shot on goal and
Seja Lang and
Brynja Hjartardottir each had a shot, too. Oleksak, Walters, and Schlom have combined to score 34 goals this season. The Knights are 13-0-2 and 6-0-1 in the Crossroads League.
Goshen (4-10-1, 1-6 CL) returns home for the last two games of the regular season. Goshen faces Spring Arbor on Wednesday, October 26, at 7:00 pm. Senior Night will be Saturday, October 29, at 7:00 pm against Huntington.
