#4 Spring Arbor shuts out Goshen as Leafs prepare for big matchup with Huntington

Madison Marshall finished with a hat trick for the Cougars

GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen women's soccer team lost 6-0 to Spring Arbor on Wednesday at home - the #4 team in the NAIA. Goshen has played back-to-back games against a top-five opponent and four straight games against ranked teams or teams receiving votes.

Madison Marshall finished with a hat trick for the Cougars - putting all three goals in before the 60th minute. Her first goal was scored from just outside the 18 after a couple of shots inside the box. Her second was off her left foot, tippedby Gracie Garcia, and off the crossbar and in. Lastly, her third and final goal was a penalty shot that went to the bottom left corner of the goal and just past Garcia's outstretched arms.

Spring Arbor also had goals from Lauren Marshall and Madalyn Freitas scored on corner kick plays. Avery Carlson came off the bench to score the final goal in the 84th minute. Spring Arbor continues their streak of not allowing any goals so far through the month of October. Bethel will try to put an end to that streak in Mishawaka this Saturday.

Garcia ended with seven saves in goal. Anne Nisley and Amy Drew had Goshen's two shots on goal. Katie Sauder also had a shot.

Goshen has the eighth spot in the Crossroads League at the moment and the top eight teams make the league tournament. The Leafs host Huntington (2-13-2, 0-7-1 CL) on Saturday, October 29, at 7:00 pm. Seniors Alexsandra Fernandes, Izabel Love, Anne Nisley, and Orsi Tatai will be recognized before the game.
