GOSHEN, Ind. – On day two of the Ruth Gunden Memorial Classic, the Goshen women's basketball team took down Trinity International 79-51 to advance to a 2-0 start for the season.
Goshen had a 19-13 edge after the first quarter ended but was more dominant in the second – outscoring the Trojans 19-6 in that quarter. The guests scored 21 points in the third quarter, but GC found a way to tame them – doubling them 22-11 in the fourth.
Sa'drea Rougeau was Goshen's leading scorer for the second day in a row. She had 15 points and three steals. Zoe Zellers had eight points and grabbed 12 rebounds off the bench – six on the offensive end. Zion Neat and Kiana Oelling scored in double figures, and Kyla Foster contributed five assists.
The Leafs held the Trojans to a .276 shooting percentage for the game. Fourteen of Goshen's points came from turnovers, and 28 came from bench players.
Goshen concluded the classic with a 2-0 record. Saint Francis defeated William Jessup earlier in the day, 62-57. The Maple Leafs are at home again on Wednesday, November 2, at 7:00 pm against IU-Kokomo.
