GOSHEN, Ind. - A 6-0 Lakers run in the final seven minutes gave Roosevelt the edge they needed in an 85-77 Goshen loss on Tuesday night. The Leafs dropped to 1-4 this season with conference play beginnning this weekend.
Once the offense got rolling, Goshen had a 44-41 halftime lead. But Roosevelt's offense kept pounding away while the Leafs couldn't keep up the steam. GC was within one point with seven minutes left, but a basket by Tyree Spencer and a basket and two free throws from Yuri Swinford took the lead to seven. Goshen was never closer than five points away for the rest of the game.
Elias Ramirez had 16 points - he has scored in double figures all five games this season. Greg Johnson II had 15 points and went 11-12 at the free throw line with five steals. Caleb Wright and Kaden Johnson also had 10+ points and combined to shoot 9-13. Clayton MacLagan and Judah Simfukwe each scored eight points off the bench.
The Maple Leafs start the Crossroads League season on Saturday as they take on Huntington on the road. That game will start at 3:00 pm - the Goshen women will play the first game of the doubleheader at 1:00 pm.
