Foresters offense powers through against Goshen

Maple Leafs unable to hold on to early lead

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Huntington scored 45 points in each half as they took down the Goshen men's basketball team 90-59 on Saturday afternoon. The Foresters are receiving votes in the coaches poll and improve to 5-1 this season with their only loss coming to #6 William Jessup.

The Leafs looked good at the start as they jumped to a 16-10 advantage. However, the home team went on a 33-9 run from that point that gave them an 18-point lead with three minutes yet to go in the half. The Leafs responded with an 11-2 run to cut the lead down to just nine at the break.

Next it was the Foresters that answered once they got back on the court. They had a 10-0 run in the first 4:13 of the second half to extend the lead to 19. It was all HU for the remainder of the game as they won by 31.

Both teams took 64 shots - Huntington made 35 (54.7%) and Goshen made 23 (35.9%). Along with the shooting percentage, the Foresters dominated in points in the paint (48-24) and blocks (5-0). GC was only outrebounded by four and had three more offensive rebounds than the opponent.

Elias Ramirez led the team with 15 points and Kaden Johnson had 14 with six rebounds. Caleb Wright was the third Maple Leaf to score in double figures. Greg Johnson II had six points and ten rebounds and Kedrick Bibby and Isaac Miller each had five rebounds off the bench.

The Leafs are at Grace on Tuesday, November 22, at 7:00 pm. This is their final game before Thanksgiving break.
