MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Turnovers proved too costly for Goshen as they lost to #19 IU-South Bend, 85-66, at Bethel University on Wednesday night. The game was a part of the Crossroads/Chicagoland Challenge.
Most of the scoring for both teams came in the first half. The Titans had 15 points on the board less than five minutes into the game. But Goshen went on a 20-9 run to take the lead at 25-24. It only held for a moment, as IU-South Bend recovered by scoring the following 12 points and maintaining an 11-point lead at the break.
The defenses improved in the second half, but Goshen was never within seven points. 85-66 was the final.
Elias Ramirez led Goshen with 19 points. Kaden Johnson had 12 points and eight rebounds. Greg Johnson finished with seven points and five assists. Goshen was 11-13 from the free-throw line. IU-South Bend shot 49% from the field, including 56% in the first half. The Titans were 25-7 last season.
Goshen plays at Holy Cross College on Friday, November 4, at 6:00 pm. The game was initially scheduled for 8:00 pm but has been moved to 6:00 pm. The teams will be playing in South Bend, and it will also be a part of the Crossroads/Chicagoland Challenge.
