GOSHEN, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan scored 53 points in the first half as the #5 Wildcats men's basketball team took care of Goshen 94-75 and went on to win their eleventh straight contest.
The Leafs had a quick 6-3 lead before IWU went off on an 11-0 run. In the second half, the Wildcats led by as many as 28, yet the Leafs were able to bring it to within 15 before falling short by 19 in the end.
Michael Johnson led Goshen with 25 points. He shot 11-14 from the floor with four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.
Ryan Mansbarger had 18 points, five rebounds, and three steals.
Gabriel McQuay scored in double-digits for the fourth time this year, with three of those occurrences being in the last three games.
IWU had five in double-figures, led by Seth Maxwell with 24 points. The Wildcats are ranked #5 in the most recent NAIA coaches' poll, posting a 22-3 record and 13-0 in the Crossroads League. During their 11-game winning streak, they are defeating opponents by an average of 12.4 points per game. Their last loss was before Christmas – on December 18 against #8 William Jessup University (Calif.).
Goshen falls to 7-18 and 3-10 in conference play. The Leafs have the most wins in a season since their 2018-19 campaign, and the most conference wins in a season since the 2017-2018 years.
Goshen returns to Ruth Gunden Gymnasium on Saturday, February 5 at 3:00 pm against #24 Marian. The women's portion of the doubleheader will be beforehand at 1:00 pm.
