GEORGETOWN, Ky. – Early offense led to Georgetown defeating the Goshen men's soccer team in their first-ever contest. The Tigers scored three goals in the first 13 minutes. The rest of the game was scoreless, but the damage had been done.
Evan Howard scored the first goal just two minutes and 34 seconds into the game. It was quickly followed a minute and a half later with a goal from Christopher Gschwent. Jack McKettrick scored the third goal in the 13
th minute of play.
Goshen had more shots than Georgetown (13-9) and more shots on goal (5-4). Georgetown's Theren Handlon made four saves in goal, and Gschwent made a defensive save near the end of the first half. Despite being outscored by eight goals this season, opponents have only shot the ball ten more times than the Leafs.
Mathurin Allawai had two shots on goal for Goshen.
John Mlondani took three shots and
Felipe Carli had two.
The Tigers are now 3-0-2 this season and 2-0-1 at home. Goshen (0-5-2) returns home to take on Brescia on Saturday, September 17, at 7:00 pm.
