MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – Hannah Miller made four saves and posted a clean sheet for Mount Vernon Nazarene during their 3-0 home shutout over the Goshen women's soccer team on Wednesday night.
Anne Nisley led the Leafs with four shots and two shots on goal.
The only first-half goal came from Caitlin Erlandson from a pass by Sarah Townsend 20 minutes in. Addison Crace scored the next two, coming much later and opening the game up in the 71
st and 85
th minutes. The Maple Leafs took more shots (16-11) but the Cougars had more shots on goal (6-4).
Along with Nisley,
Klara Ebert and
Lexy Adamczyk each had multiple shots.
Gracie Garcia made three saves for the Leafs. Goshen (3-6-1) has only been outscored by two goals this season and has more shots than their opponents – 120-113. However, the Leafs have not scored a goal in the last five games, going 0-4-1 in that span.
The Maple Leafs continue a three-game stretch of road games by playing at Saint Francis on Saturday, October 1, at 7:00 pm before traveling to Bethel the following weekend.
