INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The #6 Marian Knights women's basketball team extended their win streak to 11 and improved to 16-1 this season with a commanding 86-46 win against Goshen on Saturday afternoon. The Maple Leafs made 44% of their three-point attempts but shot 29% overall.
Marian scored the first two points of the game and never looked back. They scored 18 of the first 22 points and led 20-10 after the first quarter. The Knights dominated at the start of the second quarter, going on an 8-0 run in the first minute and a half. Goshen head coach
Stephanie Miller called a timeout to regroup, but MU scored four more points to make it a 12-0 run. At the half, Marian led 49-25 and shot 66% with 15 assists and three turnovers.
The Goshen offense was stopped in the third quarter, being held to just six points on 3-15 shooting. In the fourth, the GC defense came through, outscoring the Knights 15-11 in the final quarter.
Marian's Ella Collier scored 26 points - she came into the day as the second-leading scorer in the Crossroads League this season. Abbey McNally had 12 points and nine rebounds, and Sara Majorosova put up 14 points with eight assists.
Sa'drea Rougeau led Goshen with eight points.
Syanne Mohamed added five points with seven rebounds.
Emme Boots tied a season-high with five points,
Lillian Null scored four, and
Hannah Clark had a season-high with three points.
Fifty of Marian's 86 points were scored in the paint. The Knights had 27 assists, whereas the Maple Leafs totaled seven.
