WHITING, Ind. - The Goshen women's volleyball team lost three close sets at Calumet College of St. Joseph on Friday afternoon, 25-23, 25-20, 25-23.
Brenna Spangler had eight of Goshen's 20 block assists, 12 more than the Crimson Wave.
Goshen started the match with an ace from
Alaina Wolfe, which kicked off a 7-1 run that included kills from
Christina Towne,
Bailee Brown and
Brenna Spangler. However, the home team rallied back and scored four of the final five points to win 25-23. Similarly, Goshen had a 5-1 lead to start the second set, but CCSJ scored five of the last six points to win 25-20. Goshen led 7-3 in the third, but Calumet had a 7-0 run in the middle of the set on the way to a 25-23 win.
Christina Towne led the team with ten kills. She had a .308 hitting percentage, and
Emily Lynch contributed nine kills with a .412 hitting percentage.
Sadie Brenneman,
Kassidy Faler and
Alaina Wolfe all had six digs.
Goshen is at Marian on Wednesday, October 18, at 7:00 pm. The Knights are receiving votes in the most recent NAIA coaches poll.
