GOSHEN, Ind. - After winning the first set 25-19, the Goshen women's volleyball team lost the next three sets to Spring Arbor on Wednesday night during their final home match of the year.
Sadie Brenneman finished with a career-high 26 digs.
Brenneman's dig total was nine more than her previous season-high and more than her last three matches combined. Goshen took the Cougars to five sets on the road earlier this year. The Leafs had eight blocks in the match compared to six for SAU. Spring Arbor had a .194 hitting percentage, while GC was at .167.
In addition to her 26 digs, Brenneman had 13 kills, an ace and two block assists.
Christina Towne led the team with 14 kills and also had a double-double with 11 digs. Also with double-digit dig totals were

Kelsie Hankins (13) and
Jaelyn Amhdar (11). Spring Arbor is 15-14 overall and 8-8 in the Crossroads League.
Before the match, senior
Gwyn Bellamy was awarded the Hannah Grieser Award. Grieser was on the women's volleyball team at Goshen and was an outstanding player, leader by example, and role model. Shortly after graduating in 2013, her life was cut short by a tragic accident. - but not before touching so many lives and encouraging so many individuals to do good and love each other for who they are. Bellamy won the award for representing Hannah's positive attitude, compassion for others and spiritual faith.
The Maple Leafs conclude the 2023 season on Saturday, October 28, at Bethel at 3:00 pm.
