FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Goshen women's basketball offense was unable to get into a groove during a 74-48 loss against Concordia on Friday evening. It was the first of two games in the Cougar Classic for the Maple Leafs, hosted by the University of Saint Francis.
Goshen led 10-8 early on, but the Cardinals concluded the first quarter on an 8-0 run. Goshen took the lead back at 23-22, but the Cardinals widened the gap in the last two quarters, outscoring GC 38-17 in that stretch.
The Leafs were led by 12 points from
Zoe Zellers and nine each from
Montasia McAllister and
Kyla Foster. Zellers was also the leading rebounder for GC with six.
Goshen had just two three-pointers in the contest, a stark contrast from Concordia's 12. The Maple Leafs won the points in the paint category 30-20 and didn't allow any fast break points.
For the second day of the Cougar Classic, Goshen takes on Cornerstone on Saturday at 10:00 am.
