FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Although they held a 42-39 lead at halftime, the Goshen women's basketball team lost to Cornerstone 76-63 after the Golden Eagles outscored the Leafs 37-21 in the last two quarters.
Goshen came out hot, shooting 64% in the first quarter. However, they made just seven of 30 attempts in the second half. The Leafs took their first lead at 4-3 and held onto it until Cornerstone took over at 51-50. Goshen's lead was as high as eight.
GC had three double-digit scorers -
Syanne Mohamed,
Montasia McAllister and
Zion Neat. Mohamed was a rebound shy of a double-double and also had three blocks. McAllister had five rebounds and three steals. Neat had seven boards in just 20 minutes of play.
This was Goshen's first meeting with Cornerstone since 2011. Goshen plays an exhibition game at Western Michigan on Thursday, November 2, at 7:00 pm before their home opener against Judson on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
