WINONA LAKE, Ind. - Goshen lost a seven-point lead in the final 51 seconds against Kentucky Christian on Saturday to fall to 0-2 this season with a 77-76 loss.
Judah Simfukwe led all the players in the game with 27 points on day two of the Lancer Tipoff Classic.
After going down 11-3 early, Goshen took their first lead at 13-12 after a 9-2 run. They led by as many as six in the first half and were up four at the break. Kentucky Christian took some brief leads early in the second half, but the Leafs took them back and were up nine with three minutes left in the game. The Knights ended the game on an 8-0 run. Goshen had two turnovers and two missed free throws in the final minute.
Jared Bonds had a jumper at the buzzer that just went over the basket.
Simfukwe was 11-14 from the floor with three three-pointers. His 27 points easily tops his previous collegiate-high of 20 points from January 14, 2023, at Bethel.
Karson Jenkins had 14 points and
Isaac Miller had 11.
Kevin Cota had seven rebounds and
Marcus Northern had six.
Goshen is at Ball State on Tuesday, November 7, at 7:00 pm for an exhibition game.
