HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Led by double-digit games from
Zion Neat and
Kiana Oelling, the Goshen women's basketball team secured a third straight win as they rallied in the fourth quarter to beat IU-East on Friday night, 54-51. It was Goshen's first game as a part of the Huntington Classic.
In the low-scoring affair, the Maple Leafs had a narrow 24-23 lead at the half despite a 10-0 run from the Red Wolves. However, IU-East outscored Goshen 19-10 in the third quarter and had a 12-point lead at 49-37 with under six minutes to go. Then the Leafs went on an 8-0 run - with six of the eight points coming from
Kiana Oelling. She made two jumpers in the paint and two free throws to make it 49-43, and
Ava Lickliter's shot made it 49-45.
The Red Wolves brought the lead back up to six before Oelling led the Leafs again. She scored the final four points of the game, all free throws, and
Kyla Foster's steal in the closing seconds helped Goshen to the three-point win.
All of Oelling's 12 points came in the fourth quarter. She was 3-4 from the field in her eight fourth-quarter minutes and 6-6 at the free-throw line. She had three rebounds with two on the offensive end.
Zion Neat had 18 points and three three-pointers made. She is averaging 13.2 points per game this season.
Zoe Zellers had nine rebounds, and Lickliter totaled four points, six rebounds, four assists and a steal.
Goshen takes on IU-Southeast on Saturday at 1:00 pm on day two of the Huntington Classic.
