Goshen's streak ends at eight with loss at Park-Gilbert

Neat scores 17, Mohamed and Foster put up double-doubles

GILBERT, Ariz. - Goshen's eight-game winning streak, their longest in this century, ended Thursday against Park-Gilbert in Gilbert, Arizona. The Buccaneers finished the game on a 10-0 run to win 70-56. It is the fourth straight win for Park-Gilbert.

Goshen started the game shooting 2-16. A 12-2 Park-Gilbert run forced Goshen to use a timeout when the score was 14-4. The Leafs were shooting just 18% by the end of the first quarter, but threes from Montasia McAllister and Kyla Foster early in the second changed the score from 20-6 to 20-12, and the home team called a timeout. Kayla Schroeder became the all-time leading scorer for the Buccaneers in the first half of the game and had 18 at the break. She made her first six three-pointers of the game.

The Leafs were down 12 at the half but just nine at the end of three. They cut the lead to four at 60-56 after a three from Kiana Oelling. But those were the final points for GC as Park-Gilbert ended on a 10-0 run.

Goshen won the rebound margin by 14 and offensive rebounds 17-4. Park-Gilbert had nine fewer turnovers. Both teams shot poorly from the line - Goshen was 7-17 and Park-Gilbert was 5-12. Zion Neat led Goshen with 17 points, three rebounds and two steals. Syanne Mohamed and Kyla Foster had double-doubles - Mohamed had 14 points and 13 rebounds and Foster had ten of each. Foster's three double-doubles from this season have been from the last three games. Schroeder finished with 30 points for the Buccaneers.

Goshen (8-3, 3-0 CL) is at Arizona Christian on Saturday, December 16, at 3:00 pm Eastern time. The Firestorm are 7-2 this season.
