GOSHEN, Ind. - Karson Jenkins scored a season-high 28 points as the Maple Leafs men's basketball team lost 91-81 against Webber International in their first of two games in Florida. The Warriors moved to 9-2 with the win.
Goshen was up 16-5 early on, with eight of the 16 points coming from Jenkins. Webber had a 20-9 run to go up by a point. The teams traded points until the Warriors built a seven-point halftime advantage. Their lead extended to 18 with under five minutes to go, but GC came back on a 15-3 run and was down 83-77 with 44 seconds to go.
DJ Bryant made four late free throws for the Leafs, but the Warriors prevailed 91-81.
Jenkins made ten of his 12 attempts and had six steals in his first start of the season. His six steals were also a season-high, and he has 11 in his last two games. Bryant scored 16 points, and
Josh Similien had 12 off the bench and was 3-4 from deep.
Marcus Northern had 11 points, four rebounds and two steals.
Webber was 17-19 from the free-throw line, whereas Goshen went 14-22. The Warriors won the rebound game 33-14. This was the first meeting between the two schools since 2008. Goshen's last game in Florida is on Saturday, December 16, at 4:00 pm at Warner in Lake Wales, Florida.
