GOSHEN, Ind. - With a 73-65 win over Mount Vernon Nazarene on Saturday afternoon, the Goshen women's basketball team has won eight straight games for the first time since the first eight games of the 1998-99 season.

Kyla Foster both had double-doubles for the Leafs.
Goshen's eight-game win streak from the 1998-99 season included an 83-16 win over Cincinnati Bible (Ohio). The other wins were over Trinity Christian (Ill.), St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.), Moody Bible (Ill.), Robert Morris (Ill.), Olivet (Mich.), Grace Bible (Mich.) and Bluffton (Ohio). They finished that season with a 17-10 record under head coach Kim Eiler.
On Saturday, the Leafs were down 31-29 at the half but scored 44 points in the last two quarters to win 73-65. Mount Vernon fell to 5-3 with the loss, and Goshen has won four of the previous five games against the Cougars after losing nine straight from 2017-2021. The Leafs shot 44.4% from three and 44.1% overall.
Syanne Mohamed scored 18 points and brought down 13 rebounds.
Kyla Foster had 16 points and 10 rebounds with three assists. Her 16 points are the most she has scored in a game since February 12, 2022, also at home against Mount Vernon Nazarene.
Kiana Oelling scored 14 points and was 6-6 at the free-throw line. She is 18-18 at the free-throw line over the last three games and has made 89.2% of her attempts this year.
Montasia McAllister had ten points - her second time this season with a double-digit point total.
Without Oelling's free throws, Goshen was just 11-21 at the line. However, they won the points in the paint category 44-26 and bench points 40-13.
Goshen (8-2, 3-0 CL) is at Park University Gilbert (Ariz.) on December 14 at 2:00 pm ET. Then they are at Arizona Christian on December 16 at 3:00 pm ET.
