Ramblers best Maple Leafs in exhibition game

Smoker scores 10 points in 13 minutes of play

CHICAGO, Ill. - In an exhibition match on Saturday evening, the Maple Leafs men's basketball team lost to Loyola Chicago 115-64. The Ramblers compete in Division I and were in the NCAA Final Four in 2018.

Loyola Chicago scored 58 points in the first half and added 57 more in the second. Goshen had four players in double figures - Karson Jenkins, Max Smoker, Jared Bonds and Judah Simfukwe. Smoker scored ten points in just 13 minutes of play, shooting 4-7 with two rebounds. Bonds was 4-6, and Simfukwe had no turnovers during his 24 minutes on the court. Goshen's 13 assists came from eight players, and their 22 rebounds came from nine.

The Leafs shot 70.4% from the free-throw line, whereas the Ramblers were at 68.4%. The home team was led by 25 points from Philip Alston, who made nine of his 11 attempts.

Goshen is at home on Tuesday, December 12, at 3:00 pm against Saint Xavier. Then, they will play four straight road games, including two in Florida on December 15 and 16.
