GOSHEN, Ind. - The Goshen and Rochester men's soccer teams played to a 1-1 tie at the GC Soccer Complex on Wednesday night. The Maple Leafs scored from an own goal by the Warriors in the 57th minute, and RU scored with just nine players on the field in the 83rd minute.
There were five total shots between the teams in the first half but 17 in the second.
Eli Simones had a couple of valiant efforts - but one shot in the 18th minute went just wide to the left, and a shot early in the second half was saved by Warriors goalie Brad Carlson. The Goshen goal was scored when
Tebello Ntene lofted a kick inside the 18, and a Rochester defender lobbed a kick over his own goalie's head into the net.
Two Warriors players were issued red cards in the 77th minute - taking the team from 11 players down to nine for the rest of the contest. However, they scored six minutes later as Ivan Stojanovic slipped by a GC defender and goalie
Ruam Barbosa to even the match.
The match ended in a tie at 1-1, Goshen's first tie in eight games this season. The Leafs outshot the Warriors 13-9 and doubled them in the shots on goal category 6-3.
