Goshen shutout in Grand Rapids

Aquinas has outscored their competitors 18-2 this year

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Aquinas scored five second-half goals during a 6-0 shutout of Goshen in Grand Rapids on Saturday afternoon. The Saints have outscored their competitors 18-2 this year.

Ricardo Rittersberger scored the first goal in the 39th minute, but it was just a 1-0 game at the half. Aquinas had nine shots at that point, and Goshen had three. But in the second half, the Saints took 16 more shots while Goshen added two. 60% of their shots were on frame, and 40% of those attempts found the back of the net.

Pedro Vebber played the first half as the goalkeeper for the Leafs and made four saves. Gregor Rommelspacher came in for the second half and added five saves. Goshen's shots on goal came from Eli Simones, Mathurin Allawai and John Mlondani. Jorge Keller Martins picked up a red card for Goshen in the 54th minute, which left the team down a man for the rest of the match. The first and second Aquinas goals were scored from penalty kicks.

Goshen is off until next Saturday, September 23, when they host Huntington for their Crossroads League opener. That game will start at 7:00 pm.
